FREE things to do with your kids

Like most parents with young kids, it can be a struggle to find fun events and things to do with your kids without breaking the bank. Here's a few suggestions of fun, entertaining and educational things to do with your kiddos that cost absolutely nothing!

Coffee and Cars

This takes place every first Saturday at the North Park Mall (corner of NW 122nd and May). My two boys love race cars and "Blaze Trucks," which makes this a perfect event to spend a Saturday morning.

Myriad Gardens

With the weather starting to warm up, this is a great place to take your little humans to play. While there are parts that charge admission, the grounds are free to tour that include a playground, splash pad and children's garden area (Note: The Children’s Garden will be closing this Monday, March 26 for approximately two to three weeks for upgrades to the equipment. They’re installing new specially designed playground equipment for children with special needs)

OKC Parks & Rec

While we don't have Leslie Knope or Ron Swanson managing our parks, we do have some fantastic local parks and nature centers that my boys absolutely LOVE to frequent. In particular, the Martin Park Nature Center where you can feed the ginormous turtles that live in the creek...seriously, you need to go check them out! Fun Fact: More than half of OKC residents live within a 1/2 mile of a park or trail, so chances are you won't have far to travel. Aside form typical parks and trails, we also have Dog Parks, an Equestrian Park, Golf Courses and two Skate Parks with more being developed around the city.

Metropolitan Libraries

Story time! There are 19 Libraries throughout the OKC Metro area, each offering different types of programs for all ages. Whether you have a new baby just learning their senses, a gradeschooler learning to read or teens/young adults interested in how to make movies (yes, they actually have lessons on how to make your own movie!) and other cool technology, there's a time and place for all.
